New York Fudgin' City!

I really like shooting in NYC. Something about the teeming masses, the energy, the urban decay really fires me up. It's like a visual candy store. I'm bad company when I'm there because I'm looking around, distracted, eyes wide, mouth slightly open drooling a bit.

Crop-tastic!

I almost loaded these pics the way I wanted. Still figuring this s%$t out as they say. My homework this week was to crop 5 pics to 2x5. It was harder than I thought it would be both emotionally (I have some unexplained purist's notion that cropping an image is somehow an "unclean" thing to do) and physically (uhm...how about here? No? Then why not here...?).

The following are the glorious results of a mis-spent afternoon. In almost all cases the crop precedes the original image!

California Shootin'

I really dig the feel and look of California and feel especially inspired when I am there. I took these last year from San Francisco down to San Diego.

New photos...a couple o' challenges!

Cameron Ave. 9/10

I threw a pair of challenges my way this past week. The first was to use a lens that I don't like very much (read: can't handle). I chose a fast (1.8) 105mm that is heavy and has a crazy small depth of field when wide open. Oh, and it routinely kicks my bum-ass. That one above and these 3 following are taken with it...

Moore St. 9/10

Camp St. 9/10

Mead St. 9/10

Then I tried to take some action shots at the Green Mountain Cyclocross race up ta Vermont last weekend. These two I liked. I still want to learn how to use my flash better.
